Hilary Harnischfeger
I first saw Hilary Harnischfeger’s work at the Marie Sharpe Walsh foundation studios a couple of years ago and felt an immediate affinity with her work.

For Daniel Wiener, drawings rarely serve such preparatory purposes. Rather than tracing the stages of an idea’s development, the New York-based sculptor’s images are complete unto themselves.

Daniel Wiener’s five pint-size sculptures at ACME Gallery hang from the ceilng on nearly invisible lines of monofilament. Loaded with associations that are difficult to articulate. These delightfully indescribable blobs of hydrocal, Sculpey and wire initially have the presence of words that get stuck on thc tip of your tongue.
Thingness
While large-scale installations have come to dominate the three-dimensional arena of contemporary art, sculptural objects have undergone their own transformation-from the autonomous, self-sufficient works of bygone. Modernism to referentially rich, materially suggestive, “things.”
hairtoextraholly
Not too long ago, struggling with my work more than usual, I wondered if and how to continue. Two things happened. First I tossed out the rulesand limitations I had set for myself 20 years ago and decided to experiment with different media. The starting point for “hairtoextraholly” was to morph other artists’ shapes into mine and back again. As if mimicking the emotional process of influence would point to the resolution of my artistic crisis.

Fine Art Adoption Network
Frequently I post work at the Fine Art Adoption Network. FAAN is an online network, which uses a gift economy to connect artists and potential collectors. All of the artworks on view are available for adoption. This means acquiring an artwork without purchasing it, through an arrangement between the artist and collector. See my work on FAAN.
